TrainTastic — Signage System Meeting

Meeting with Meredith

Purpose

Present the new interactive signage system built for TrainTastic — a QR-code-controlled, self-hosted display platform designed to replace the previous setup with something more reliable, more flexible, and fully under our control.

TrainTastic's Reputation

TrainTastic already has 4.8 stars across 1,500+ Google reviews — the new signage system puts that directly in front of every visitor with a dedicated "What People Are Saying" page.

Display & Equipment Options

Four ways to physically place the display near the exhibit — the shopping list below covers what each one needs.

Option A: Floor-Standing Podium Display

A ~43″ screen on an integrated floor stand, positioned beside the exhibit.

Option B: Overhead / Hanging Display

A display mounted above or adjacent to the exhibit, viewable from a distance.

Option C: 3-Screen Static Digital Signage

A fixed side-by-side array of 3 displays instead of one — built for a glance rather than a browse. No QR code or interaction; each screen runs a rotating dashboard of local weather, news headlines, and announcements/broadcast content, aimed at guests passing by or waiting in line rather than stopping to explore.

Option D: Large-Format Lobby Display

For the big open space up front — one large display (1920×1080 or 4K) instead of a small screen near an exhibit, set to greet guests and build excitement before they even reach the floor. Two samples below: a generic dashboard-style example, and a custom concept built specifically around TrainTastic's own branding and programs.

Sample 2 is a custom concept built around TrainTastic's real branding and programs — it auto-rotates through a welcome screen, exhibit highlights, learning programs (Homeschool STEM Days, Tykes & Trains, summer camps, field trips), birthday party rooms, guest reviews, and a "before you head in" tips screen. Built as a fluid 16:9 canvas so it works at 1080p or 4K without changes.

All equipment is supplied and installed by DSMS — this ensures commercial-grade, always-on-rated hardware throughout, and a fully supported install.

Pricing

Simple, per-player pricing — no bundled tiers, just the actual line items.

For this rollout: DSMS buys and configures the player, then ships it to Meredith already set up — she just plugs in power and HDMI and switches the display's input. The signage URL is already running, so there's nothing to install or set up on her end.

ItemPriceNotes
Player Setup $250 one-time, per player Covers DSMS purchasing and configuring the player before it ships — arrives ready to plug in, no on-site setup needed.
Platform & Hosting $40/mo or $400/yr Per player. $40/mo billed monthly ($480/yr total), or $400/yr if paid annually upfront — a $80/yr savings.
Software Patching $250/yr per player Covers all software updates and patches to keep the player current.
Uptime Monitoring Included DSMS monitors every player and emails Meredith any time a display goes down or comes back online.
Content Creation $65/hr Optional — new graphics, video edits, or page updates beyond the included platform. Capped at $2,500/mo; anything above that is discussed and approved first.
Larger Projects Custom quote Bigger builds (new exhibit pages, additional locations, custom features) are scoped and bid as a project rather than billed hourly.

What's Next: The Video Wall Project

A separate, upcoming meeting agenda covering the next phase — a 7 ft × 10 ft-footprint, 6-panel video wall extending this same signage platform to a much larger canvas.

Desired Outcome

Meredith has a clear picture of what the system does, how easy it is to keep content updated, and what it would look like to move forward together — with a follow-up plan for next steps agreed before the meeting ends.
