How This System Works

A self-hosted, QR-code-controlled digital signage platform built specifically for TrainTastic — replacing the previous setup with something DSMS fully controls, monitors, and can update quickly, including live in front of a visitor.

Day-to-day content changes don't require a developer:

• Content Editor — a password-protected page for updating any exhibit page's text, images, video, and timing, with a live preview before anything goes public.
• Quick Post — a one-tap mobile tool for capturing a video or photo on the spot (e.g. a conversation with a visitor at the exhibit) and making it available to guests, without interrupting what's currently on screen.

• Every change is version-controlled. Nothing is a one-way door — any update can be rolled back to a known-good state if something ever looks wrong.
• Automatic recovery from outages — the display reconnects and resumes on its own if the network drops.
• Proactive monitoring — the system watches itself and can alert DSMS if a display ever goes silent.
• Secure by design — admin access is password-protected with automatic lockout after repeated failed attempts, and secrets are never stored in plain text alongside the code.

The system is actively maintained in a private, version-controlled codebase. Updates are tested before going live, deployed automatically once approved, and every change is logged — so there's always a clear record of what changed, when, and why.
