What We Built
Visitors scan a QR code with their own phone — no app download — to control a display's content in real time. The entire system, server, content, and branding, is owned outright, replacing dependency on third-party signage platforms.
Core Capabilities
-
Smartphone remote control via QR code
- No app install required for visitors — works in any phone's camera/browser
- Each scan starts a fresh, secure session; sessions auto-expire when idle so a new visitor always gets a clean start
-
Multi-page content system
- Independent display duration per page — give longer pages more time on screen
- Supports both text/image content and full video pages
-
Consistent, standardized branding
- Page number, title, and live clock in a uniform header on every page
- DSMS copyright/branding footer on every page and on the controller
-
Content managed without touching code
- Pages are edited directly (Dreamweaver, SFTP, or any editor) and go live instantly — no developer needed for day-to-day content updates
-
Production-grade reliability
- HTTPS encryption with auto-renewing SSL
- Runs as a managed service that auto-restarts if it ever crashes or the server reboots
- Self-healing state management — no manual repair needed for edge cases
-
True offline resilience
- Displays keep showing their last content and can reload successfully even with zero internet connectivity, using browser-level caching
- QR codes are generated on our own server — no dependency on any third-party service
-
Proactive monitoring & alerts
- The system automatically emails an administrator if any display goes silent (its local internet drops), and again once it's back online — no manual checking required
-
Hardware-agnostic playback
- Works on Raspberry Pi devices we provide, a client's own PC, or enterprise commercial signage players (BrightSign, Scala)
- Corporate IT departments can use their own approved, company-owned hardware — no need to allow an unmanaged device onto their network
-
Scalable, multi-location architecture
- Any number of displays, each with its own unique ID, content session, QR code, and independent monitoring — all managed from one central platform
02
What Makes This Different
- We own the platform outright — no recurring license fees paid to a third-party signage vendor
- No restrictive account/permission systems, campaign structures, or server clusters to fight — full control end to end
- Not locked to any single proprietary hardware or app — works with whatever device or player a client already has or prefers
- Fully white-labeled under the DSMS brand from the ground up
03
Naming & Trademark
Working name: "DSMS Mobile Touch."
Before this name is used publicly in marketing materials, contracts, or a domain launch, it's worth doing a formal trademark clearance search (USPTO TESS database, plus a state-level business name search) to confirm the name and any close variations aren't already in use in this category. A trademark attorney can run a more thorough clearance search and handle the actual filing if the name comes back clear.
Note: this is general informational guidance, not legal advice — a licensed trademark attorney should be consulted before filing or before committing to the name in public-facing materials.
Also worth locking down early, once a name is confirmed clear: the matching domain name and social media handles, before a competitor or unrelated party takes them.

Pricing Structure
For context: typical digital signage software in the market runs roughly $8–$50 per screen per month depending on feature tier, with enterprise-grade platforms often running $40–$100+ per screen per month. Hardware (media players) separately runs anywhere from about $80 (Raspberry Pi) to $400–$800+ (commercial players like BrightSign).
Confirmed pricing: this is the live, per-player pricing already presented to Meredith at TrainTastic — simple line items, no bundled tiers.
| Item | Price | Includes |
| Player Setup |
$250 one-time, per player |
Covers DSMS purchasing and configuring the player before it ships — arrives ready to plug in, no on-site setup needed. |
| Platform & Hosting |
$40/mo or $400/yr |
Per player. $40/mo billed monthly ($480/yr total), or $400/yr if paid annually upfront — a $80/yr savings. |
| Software Patching |
$250/yr per player |
Covers all software updates and patches to keep the player current. |
| Uptime Monitoring |
Included |
DSMS monitors every player and emails an administrator any time a display goes down or comes back online. |
| Content Creation |
$65/hr |
Optional — new graphics, video edits, or page updates beyond the included platform. Capped at $2,500/mo; anything above that is discussed and approved first. |
| Larger Projects |
Custom quote |
Bigger builds (new pages, additional locations, custom features) are scoped and bid as a project rather than billed hourly. |

Equipment & Supply Program
DSMS supplies all hardware for every installation through our own ordering system — clients do not source their own displays, mounts, or players. This is a deliberate policy, not just a convenience:
- Consistency and reliability — commercial-grade, 24/7-rated equipment every time, rather than a client buying a consumer TV or a cheap media box that isn't built for always-on operation. Consumer displays run for roughly 6–8 hours a day by design; running one 24/7 typically voids the manufacturer's warranty and causes it to fail years earlier than a commercial panel.
- A consistent, fully supported install — we know exactly what's installed at every site, which makes remote troubleshooting and monitoring (like the automatic offline alerts) far more reliable.
- An additional revenue line — equipment and supply becomes a second profit center alongside the monthly platform fee, on top of the markup built into the hardware pricing.
Clients own their hardware outright once installed — DSMS is the equipment source and installer, not a lessor.
Shopping List — Option A: Floor-Standing Podium Display
A ~43″ display on an integrated floor stand/podium, positioned beside the exhibit.
- 43″ commercial-grade display, 24/7 duty-rated (not a consumer TV)
- Floor-standing kiosk/podium mount with integrated base
- Media player (Raspberry Pi kit, or commercial player for enterprise clients)
- HDMI cable (player to display)
- Power cables and a surge protector/power strip
- Network connection: Ethernet cable if a drop is nearby, or a wireless bridge/access point if not
- Cable management (raceway/cord cover) for a clean, professional look
- Security/anti-theft cable lock — floor units are more exposed in a public walkway than a wall or ceiling mount
Shopping List — Option B: Overhead / Hanging Display
A display mounted above or adjacent to the exhibit, viewable from a distance.
- Commercial-grade display, 24/7 duty-rated, sized for the mounting height and typical viewing distance
- Wall or ceiling mount bracket rated for the display's size and weight
- Media player, mounted near the display or at a nearby accessible point
- HDMI cable — a longer or active/amplified cable may be needed depending on mount distance
- Power run to the mount location (may require an electrician if no outlet is nearby)
- Network connection: Ethernet drop or wireless bridge
- Cable cover/conduit to route cords cleanly from the mount to the power and network sources
Common to Both Options
- Installation and setup labor
- On-site network configuration (wired or wireless) to reach the DSMS platform
Note: if a client prefers to source their own hardware independently, that remains their choice — but it falls outside DSMS's support and warranty coverage, and we'd recommend against it for anything running 24/7.
